Big skills. Real projects. Stronger homes — together.

Starting March, Rebuilding Together Thurston County is opening up a new way for neighbors to learn, practice, and grow confidence in home repair and maintenance skills.

These monthly workshops are designed for two groups at once:

  • Volunteers who want hands-on opportunities and guidance to upskill (and bring those skills back to future RTTC projects).

  • Community members who want to learn practical, doable skills to care for their own homes—one project at a time.

When

Workshops will be held the second Friday and Saturday of each month, beginning in March, from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM.

Where

Location details are coming soon. (We’ll update this post as soon as the workshop site is confirmed.)

What We’ll Work On

Each workshop will focus on real-world, confidence-building projects and home maintenance basics—skills you can use right away. Topics may include:

  • Landscaping and yard care

  • Painting and surface prep

  • Fence repair

  • Accessibility upgrades (like installing grab bars)

  • Home safety improvements (smoke detectors and CO detectors)

  • And more as the schedule comes together

No matter your starting point, there’s a place for you here—whether you’re learning the basics or building on what you already know.

Why We’re Doing This

Safe, healthy homes aren’t built in a single day — they’re preserved through ongoing care, shared knowledge, and steady support.

These workshops create a welcoming space to:

  • Practice skills with guidance and encouragement

  • Learn alongside neighbors

  • Build comfort with tools and materials

  • Strengthen the volunteer community that powers RTTC’s work year-round
